USA Ratings - Top 20
« on: April 11, 2010, 05:52:24 PM »
Ever wonder what shows are popular here in the States? Well, courtesy of Zap2It, I have found the top twenty shows of the following week.

Every week, probably every Sunday or so, I'll try to commit to posting the ratings. I like to compare to see if more Unscripted or Scripted programs are on.

i have decided to post the ratings in order starting with the most highly rated show. You may not be familiar with the scripted shows, but I'll be willing to try to describe them as much as I can, despite my scripted program watching is almost nonexistant. The ratings are calculated by millions, estimated to the nearest thousandth.

Code:
- Unscripted Programming (Reality, Game Shows) is in Red.
- Scripted Programming (Comedy, Drama) is in Blue.
- Other Programming (Movies, Sports, News) is in Green.

01. Dancing With the Stars (Monday) - 22,966,000
02. American Idol (Tuesday) - 21,845,000
03. American Idol Results (Wednesday) - 20,492,000
04. NCAA Final Four - West Virginia/Duke - 15,823,000
05. Dancing With the Stars Results (Tuesday) - 14,280,000
06. The Mentalist - 14,114,000
07. NCAA Final Four - Bridge - 14,035,000
08. Castle - 13,855,000
09. CSI - 13,347,000
10. Undercover Boss - 13,180,000
11. Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains - 11,263,000
12. Two and a half Men - 10,982,000
13. NCIS - 10,903,000
14. NCIS: Los Angeles - 10,201,000
15. Lost - 10,127,000
16. Cold Case - 10,100,000
17. Law & Order: SVU - 10,080,000
18. Grey's Anatomy - 9,868,000
19. The Big Bang Theory - 9,797,000
20. Modern Family - 9,513,000

So, 6 Unscripted, 2 Other, 12 Scripted. So bummed that TAR is coming up a bit short.  >:(

Wow Dancing with the Stars the most watched show from the week  :o . I think American Idol numbers are not good this time, although it's the 2nd and 3rd most watched show from the week.

And I didn't know that The Mentalist is the most watched show from the scripted ones, and Big Bang is 19th here  :(, but I think it was a repeat this week, wasn't it?

Once again, thank for the post! Maybe I'll do the same with Argentinian and Spanish TV Shows  :P

Yeah, I was actually not surprised to see DWTS there, it's on it's fifth year (considering it airs twice a year), and American idol was also biggest on its fifth year, and I believe TAR did extremely well during it's fifth through seventh season as well. Season/Year 5 is often a lucky number for growing shows.

American Idol has lot A LOT, but it clearly has enough people who enjoy the show. If American Idol ever tried to get canceled, my prediction is that is could ressurect itself in a future year. However, I also think AI will continue to lose a mess of good ratings, unless something changes. And X Factor with Simon leaving isn't going to help AI out.

And Big Bang Theory is a decent show for the younger audience, but older people hardly ever watch it. That's kind of how Big Brother and maybe Glee work here. It popular for the younger audience, but overall, no. Oh, and I don't know about you, but I think the blonde girl is the main reason for the show's success.

Yes, Big Bang Theory is not for old people, but numbers from young people must be pretty good, almost everyone who I know from my age here, watch at least once the show.

And I don't agree with you about Penny (the blonde girl). I think the 5 main characters are pretty good, but Sheldon definitely is the star of the show, without him it won't be the same. Just like Charlie in Two and a half men, without them, the show is dead

Yeah for some reason the website, Zap2it, hasn't updated their site, so i guess later, I'll try to find another site that might have the ratings. Sorry, though.

Is it true that Charlie Sheen won't be in the next season of Two and a half men?  :-\ I think I heard about it, and if it's true, I think the series will be dead  :(

Wow, I have no idea, though. I could look that up. Anyways, I agree with you, The show can't do well without him, and it also can't be called "Two & A half men" without him, right?

@Joako - I looked for links, and Most of the link say yes, he's leaving Two & A Half Men (personal reasons), but I saw the link on TV People's site. Sorry, I can't copy links now, I don't know what's wrong with my computer. Just google Charlie Sheen leaving and you'd come up with something.
