Eurovision Song Contest 2013 Malmö
« on: July 12, 2012, 11:43:23 AM »
Malmö will host the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in 'Malmö Arena' [16,000].

I'm so disappointed, I was waiting something bigger from Sweden, even Azerbaijan had a bigger stage for Eurovision. I hate this. Hope they change their minds and make good decisions in the future.

Stockholm hosts the Ice Hockey World Championships at the same time. I guess they can't handle 2 big events at the same time. And ice-hockey really is big in these parts of the world. Possibly even bigger than ESC.
Lost a planet Master Obi Wan has. How embarrassing.

yeah its downright dissappointing - just like when Germany finally won again and chose...not Berlin (the obvious one!), not Hamburg, not Cologne but....Düsseldorf!  :zzz

1. I'm a HUGE Eurovision fan myself
2. I was NOT surprised when Sweden won this year
3. I don't think that Malmö is a bad choice

Graham, I feel you. But at the time the German broadcaster was picking host cities, Berlin did not had a proper venue available by the time of the Contest. And what the Swedish are planning to do is doing a "smaller show due to the economical crisis and try to get the largest amount of participating countries as possible".
:) Live happy every day!!! <3

She won the annual poll of major website eurovision-spain.com. If she goes to Malmö with a good song, Spain may be in the Top 10 again.

so the swedish producers announced that they are going to break one of the basic rules of the contests with deciding the performance order by THEMSELVES and NOT by draw. This is really f*ed up if you ask me and leaves a very, very bitter taste in my mouth. I would love them to get fired from their jobs for this but given the swedes have so much power in the EBU I guess nothing will happen and we will have an obviously rigged contest this year >:(

Off subject but Soluna Samay (last years Denmark representation) was really under marked.

PORTUGAL and SLOVAKIA have announced their withdrawals from next year's contest, both have revealed that financial reasons are behind the decision.

POLAND, on the other hand has announced that hey're not coming back to the contest, at least in 2013.

So preperation for you representation of Eurovision has ALREADY began? you guys must take it more seriously than we do, normally the UK just chooses a novelty act or a washed up group to represent us.

The last good representation was Jade Ewen for us.

But, Uk has so many great artists !! If they want to win Eurovision they can but they don't wanna and i don't fuckin understand y ! At least they can try to make a little effort !

I think that Festivali i Këngës is the worst music festival you would ever see... Omg ! It's bad bad bad ! If the Albanian representative would have been chosen by Kënga Magjike or Top Fest or  Zhurma or any other fastival, with no doubt Albania would have been in the Top 10 every year.

You had an excellent representation in Rona Nishliu last year, she was quite scary at first but when I watched it on youtube again I loved it :)

Albania always doesn't have enough budget for a good representation, good clothes, performance, including here stage objects. I hope this year they make an improvement

B&H is not going due to financial difficulties while Turkey  :mad quit since they don't feel necessary for a jury to have any kind of decisions during the voting and also as they find unfair that the Big 5 (France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom) that they should always make it to the Finals.

Turkey's decision is just pointless. You guys always make it to the Top 10. DON'T COMPLAIN! Europe does actually love you. That makes no sense to anyone that follows Eurovision. Your entries, no matter how bad they can be, they're always liked by many people. Just don't!

On Monday, Spanish broadcaster TVE has announced that band El Sueño de Morfeo will be their representation in Malmö!  ;D

- This is picture is the band together with Anne Igartiburu during their presenation on magazine '+Gente'.

When it comes to how the song will be selected it will follow a similar format to the one used for Pastora Soler the year prior. A couple of songs will be released on the web so the audience can choose which ones will go to the televised gala for the song. When the gala comes, a mix of televote and professional jury will determine which will be the definitive song!

Anyways...
VAMOS ESPAÑA!  ;D

The producers of the show have taken it into their own hands to decide the order the participants sing in, as opposed to the drawing of lots which has been the process for however-knows-long, apparently to stop acts too similar cancelling each other out.

Heilsarmee with the song "You and Me" will represente SWITZERLAND in ESC 2013. They won in the national final with 37,54% of the votes!

Their song:
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6BAG1K4TEZc" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6BAG1K4TEZc</a>

Despite a while until the competition, some competitors have also already chosen an act and song:

For Belarus, it's Alyona Lanskkaya with "Rythym of Love":

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewGLYsqCoN4" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewGLYsqCoN4</a>

Belgium have selected Roberto Bellarosa with "Love Kills"

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9II4-U2fxdE" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9II4-U2fxdE</a>

Lithuania have Andruis Pojavis, with "Something"

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQ5yevVQ_a8" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQ5yevVQ_a8</a>

These are the only countries that have an artist and song so far.
