Rank your languages
« on: September 06, 2014, 01:56:37 PM »
I started this topic because I'm curious. :P The "objective" is to rank the languages you can speak/write (even if only some words) according to their importance to your life and why. I'll start:

1. Portuguese (this is obvious I think. It's the language I speak every day, without it I wouldn't be able to go shopping, etc. So, this is my number 1 language as importance)

2. English (this is like my 2nd language. I at least write it every day, and will be usefull for my future, since I want to move to a English-speaking country)

3. Spanish (this is like a sometimes language. I use it only some times. I usually only use it for Spanish classes, watch a Spanish-speaking reality show (a.k.a GH Spain and TAR Latin America), or talking to someone that is Spanish)

4/5. French/Italian (I think I should not even consider this as languages I talk/write, because I don't. I only used to learn it, but never practised)

1. Spanish (Language I speak everyday)
2. English (I usually speak or at least read in english everyday and I also want to improve it to a better level this winter)
3. Italian (I can understand very well italian, an italian conversation, but I can't write or speak in Italian, althoug I can speak some sentences and words haha)
4. Hungarian (Last year I was on erasmus in Budapest so I learnt for 2 weeks hungarian and I have a bassic level so I can speak some sentences and also start a conversation, it's really difficult but I like it a lot)
5. French (I used to learn at school and I liked it and I used to be good at it but then I stopped learning so right now I can remember some sentences and words)

And that's all :D

1. English - I'm more used to using it, it's the language I speak the most and use to express myself better
2. Filipino - LOL obviously, it's the native language
3. Spanish - a lot of Filipino words are Spanish, the languages are similar to each other, I picked up Spanish better than French
4. French - I'm proficient in it, I can understand and speak well enough, but I don't use it often
5. Chinese - I just have a lot of Filipino-Chinese friends so picked it up because of the

1. Canadian English
2. Pointparkese.
3. American English
4. Pittsburghese.
5. Spanish - Don't read it, don't speak it, have no desire to learn it again, and it's not even spoken at all in Pittsburgh.

I want to learn French, though I may not be able to in my University studies, and I may study abroad, but that will be in Tokyo, so I would learn Japanese.

Well. My list of languages is much shorter. Lol.

1 - Spanish (Dominican slangs included)
3 - English (American accent comes naturally, I can imitate British & Australian accents pretty well too)
3 - French (Went to l'Alliance Française for two and a half years and finished all levels in time to go to college, but I've lost most of what I've learned. Fuck.)

I understand some Italian and Portuguese due to their similarities to Spanish, and so I understand some Catalan too.

I really want to learn Dutch & Italian, or Portuguese & Dutch. I want to live in the Netherlands.
:) Live happy every day!!! <3

As for the United States, English may be an irrelevant usage of a word. Dialect is different in each region.
