I'd honestly like to see Big Brother Africa take a break for a while and see Big Brother South Africa make a return to the small screen , I honestly loved BBSA the first season was awesome the second wasn't bad either. Mark Pilgrim was a great host , the set was better and the evictions were much more exciting and entertaining to watch with the huge crowds and the studio audience. All in all it was way better produced. BB Africa 1 and 2 only sort've matched upto the BBSA production its all gone down hill from there.

I agree with you 100%! Big Brother SA 1 & 2 were amazing! I enjoyed Mark's interaction with the crowd, the way the housemates exited the house and how they walked down the red carpet with fireworks. Both seasons were so uninhibited and simple. The house was so tiny but the big characters made up for that. Big Brother Africa SERIOUSLY needs to just get cancelled! It's become so political and a competition between countries. The host is drab, the rent-a-crowds look like people off the street just there to pass time and the censorship is beyond crazy! I say retire Big Bro Africa and bring us Secret Story.

I remember being glued to BB SA , I loved the choice of housemates they had an awesome mix of people. Infact it was really interesting to see all of the various races and nationalities of South Africa under one roof . The website was even better than it was interactive with the popularity polls and all. Mark was awesome , I remember that each and every eviction was eviction was awesomely produced like for eg the exit from the house and then to the studio via the red carpet. Oh and I so agree with you on the point that on BB SA it seemed as if the audience was very much involved in the show with BBA from now on it seems as if they're all paid to be there and plus there are only like a hand full of people there. BBA seriously looks like a ghetto production now the host sucks he's horrible compared to Mark. BBA has basically become Mnets money making machine they make loads of money by getting votes from all over Africa , plus the voting really isn't fair anyways most of the time its the Nigerian contestant making it far irrespective of his/her character just cuz it has the largest vote bank , the Nigerians have hijacked the 13th or now the 15th vote so they kinda get 2 blocks the Nigerian and the rest of Africa block also. Its basically Africa's answer to Eurovision minus the singing and plus the tacky production.

I am curious to know why BBSA never made it back on air ? It was a success in both of its seasons I am pretty sure about that. People I remember had an issue on the race thing as to why only white people won show or something like that . BBSA has to come back with everything it had  !!

LOL @ "ghetto production"! I was thinking the same thing! LMAO! Are you South African Mystapaki? If you are, I'm sure you've noticed how DStv has been trying to capture the larger African market by creating more channels suited for them, more shows like All Access being changed to suit a black audience... Big Brother was the same thing. The first season of Big Brother Africa and its host were 'too white' for Africa. It still felt as a though it was BBSA 3. So to get more people watching = more money, they changed everything. I think MNet/Endemol just got greedy when they saw that BBAfrica was such a success and they thought, "Screw the SA version, we've got our cash cow".

I'm only looking forward to BBUK this year. Its my favourite Big Brother worldwide.

Uganda Online has reported that Sharon Salmon will enter the house as the Ugandan housemate when the launch takes place on May 1st. She is known (I'm not sure whether she is famous) as being a member of the pop group Obsession. She is married with a child.

I don't know about anyone else, but I really hope Ghana does okay this year. The last two years in a row I think their representative only lasted a week or two in the house.

I don't know, his picture wasn't like that when I got all of the information. Maybe he's dropped out?  ???

There's nothing on any forums or anything, so I have no idea.

I read on the facebook page that somebody commented that the twist this year it's that is going to be celebrities vs unknowns  ??? ???. But i mean, it's just stupid to reveal the celebrities first, i think it would be much more interesting if we knew the unknowns and that in the launch night the celebrities are revealed. And 28 housemates it's like a lot.

Maybe Herminio quitted...

I'm seeing the launch show also. I don't like the fact that after the housemates are presented they don't enter the house but they seat right there and can talk to each other.

So there are 26 housemates this season, 1 from Mozambique, 1 from Angola and 2 from the other countries. Herminio is finally out, I don't know he didn't enter to the house  :-\

And they were divided into 2 teams. One team entered to the house, the other is still in the studio.

EDIT: Now the other 13 housemates are going to enter to the house too.

There are some housemates that there are pretty famous in their own countries. Weza is a famous model from Angola, Zeus is a hip-hop star from Botswana, Bhoke works in the National TV from Tanzania and Confidence is a famous businesswoman from Ghana. The others I think they are all "unknown", although many of them works in TV or Radio

And the full list of HMs with their full names shown in the launch:

Vimbai Mutinhiri (Zimbabwe)
Ernest Wasake (Uganda)
Hanni Mekura (Ethiopia)
Mumba Mwaka (Zambia)
Peo "Miss P" Sebotho (Botswana)
Michael Zuane (Mozambique)
Vina Longpe (Nigeria)
Lotus Kyamba (Tanzania)
Nicolas "Nic" Wangondu (Kenya)
Bernardina Buys (Namibia)
Weza Solunga (Angola)
Luclay Misoya (South Africa)
Sharon Nalukenge (Uganda)
Felicia Ngoma (Malawi)
Game "Zeus" Bantsi (Botswana)
Kimberly "Kim" Musonda (Zambia)
Millicent Mugadi (Kenya)
Nkuli Ngquola (South Africa)
Confidence Haugen (Ghana)
Jossy Ailonga (Namibia)
Bhoke Egina (Tanzania)
Danny Kassa (Ethiopia)
Wendall Parson (Zimbabwe)
Karen Igho (Nigeria)
Lomwe Namali (Malawi)
Alex Biney (Ghana)

weird that there are so few guys in the cast. I will never get why BB Africa always has one gender dominated in its cast.

Lomwe, aged 27, radio and club DJ, representing Malawi.

No, they didn't say nothing about him in the live show, and his porfile was in the official website during the live show, but now they decided to quit it.

Strange. I guess we'll never know for sure.

Anyway, this is definitely the most housemates to enter in a Launch show, right? Angola and Mozambique are at a disadvantage right away as they've each only one housemate competing.
