Don't wonder about the German ratings.  ;)

There is a broader choice of private TV channels. But RTL II is the 6th most watched channel in Germany at some time.

Wow, Brazil gets a HUGE percentage of their audience still...always around 1/2 of the total television viewers or so.  That is awesome!!!
Yes, Big Brother is the 2nd most watched show in the Brazilian TV, after the 9 pm telenovela from Globo.

But this season is the least watched season so far
WOW! This is Brazil's least watched season! What kind of numbers did it see in it's heyday? Also Italy and Spain seem be doing very well considering both of their BBs have been on for ten years.

Here you have a picture with the share averages from all 9 seasons

Season 5 was the most watched with almost 70% share from average. Last season had a 51% share average and I think this one is going to have a 45%-49% share average.

Although the rating are worst, the show is being more popular in the last years, with record visits from the website and season 9 was the one with more earning out of the 9 seasons, that was why this year the prize is 50% higher than last year

For example the launch had 30 points, while the other 2 big station from Brazil had 9 points at the same time, so Big Brother triplicate the rating from the other 2 big stations. And I'd the share wrong, it was 51% not 61% LOL, sorry  :P . But after 9 years, half of the viewers decided to watch Big Brother in Brazil

Do you also have the ratings for the Philippines version of BB? I've always thought that those have to be prettyhigh.

yeah too bad Germany's ratings are going down (once again). The producers are very amateur-ish on this show but this season they tried finally tried to put some effort in the show but I simply think its over and out

I made a ratings compilation for another forum while back regarding the ratings of Big Brother USA.  Much of the ratings for the earlier seasons are very hard to find.

Note:The numbers for the launch night are all overnight figures except for BB1; the final night numbers are all overnight figures except for BB7, BB10-BB11.

More details
Big Brother 1 - While it premiered BB had over 20 million viewers (the live launch aired right after Survivor) the season declined every week. Only the Wednesday episodes after Survivor manage to remain competitive. By the end the season averaged 9.1 million viewers. Back then a show averaging 9.1 million viewers was a flop (unlike today's world where a show averaging that amount is considered a hit.)

Big Brother 2 - Despite the launch (now pre-recorded) drastically down versus BB1's launch, the premiere for BB2 was considered modest since it retained most of the average viewers from the previous year. However the launch for BB2 outbeat BB1 in younger viewers namely the 18-34 demographic. BB1 had minor success in this demo as is why they re-tooled BB2 instead of axing it because CBS needed a show that focused more on the younger audience. The finale was the best performing episode this season with 12.3 million viewers and won its 10 o'clock hour in adults 18-49 (6.0/15) and adults 18-34 (5.8/16) while finishing second in adults 25-54 (6.1/14). Compared to the finale of BB1, BB2 was up 10% in total viewers, 15% in adults 25-54, 20% in adults 18-49 and 31% in adults 18-34.

Variety mentioned that "After winning 34% of its half-hours in adults 18-49 last summer, "Big Brother" won 64% of its half-hours this year, including 31 of its final 36." Also a writer's strike almost happened while CBS was re-tooling this season, if the strike would have happened this would have been the first winter season.

Big Brother 3 - Proved to be a bigger success than Big Brother 2, the launch attracted 9.2 million viewers and beat the premiere season of American Idol by 200,000 viewers. The finale also rated very well but couldn't find exact numbers for it. The success of Big Brother 3 led CBS to release all of the broadcast episodes onto DVD.

Big Brother 4 - This season had a jump in the ratings, most likely due to one of the HouseGuests that was released to the press prior to the season was disqualified. He was replaced by Jee, Jun's ex. Big Brother 4 was very successful in the ratings with most episodes winning the 18-49 demographic and averaging 7-11 million viwers per episode. The final eviction with Robert was watched by 10.99 million viewers. After this season CBS renewed Big Brother until 2006 (Big Brother All Stars), the first and so far only time CBS has renewed Big Brother like this. Previously and in the future CBS just ordered one season at a time. CBS released a DVD compilation of some of this seasons wildest, controversial moments uncut.

Big Brother 5 - Another hit despite the launch attracting 9.55 million, despite being down compared to previous seasons, it won its timeslot. The launch was 90 minutes long this time around (the launch of The Amazing Race was also 90 minutes). The finale attracted 10.54 million viewers. This was the last season to last 82 days. The finale, along with the finale of Amazing Race won the entire night and gave CBS a win during the first official Tuesday of the 2004-2005 rating year and for the first time since 1990 CBS won the 18-34 adults demographic. Big Brother 5's finale had a 3.4 rating/11 share in the adults 18-34 demographic.

Big Brother 6 - This time around the launch was an hour long and attractd 8.47 million viewers, considerably down from BB5's 90 minute launch but still won its timeslot. Despite losing some viewers from previous years, Big Brother still performed very well with the younger crowd and helped CBS win many nights. This season was 2 days shorter than past seasons.  The average for the season was 7.24 million viewers and here is the nightly averages Tuesdays (8.20 million), Thursdays (7.62 million) and Saturdays (5.18 million)

Big Brother 7 - Returned with former housemates, more than 2.4 million votes were casted by the public to see who would enter the house. This season also began the typical Sunday-Tuesday-Thursday schedule Big Brother typically follows. For a second year running, launch ratings dropped drastically again. BB7 managed 7.54 million viewers for the launch episode. Demographic ratings were also down this year versus the previous year. CBS felt confident in Big Brother this year and introduced the now common Sunday/Tuesday/Thursday schedule. Prior to this season Big Brother never really had a set schedule.

Big Brother 8 - Arnold Shapiro, the executive producer that helped re-vamp Big Brother 2, left the show beginning with this season. Launch ratings are down again (which is becoming a trend) with the launch attracting 7.4 million, a minor dip. A season high was reached when Jen received the first "punishment" of BBUSA history with 9.42 million viewers. Overall this season managed to attract around 7.56 million viewers.

Big Brother 9 - A result of the 2008 writer's strike brought what most fans to consider the worst season to date or on par with Big Brother 1. Rating wise Big Brother 1 was better. This season the launch attracted 7.33 million viewers. After American Idol launched and as the season progressed the show averaged 5-6.5 million viewers per episode. Even UK viewers weren't impressed and tuned out over the course of the season. This is the first time since Big Brother 1 that the finale didn't out rate the premiere night.

Big Brother 10 - The launch was the lowest rated launch of BBUSA history with 6.29 million viewers. Despite a minor struggle in ratings during the first two weeks BB10 managed to attract 6-7 million viewers for most of the season. The highest rated show this season was the last eviction with 7.93 million viewers. Most episodes managed to beat the ratings of BB9 but were down when compared to BB8. Overall the demographics were good and during the Olympics, Big Brother was the only show to constantly get a 2.0 or better in all the demographics.

Big Brother 11 - BB11 managed to outperform both BB9 & BB10 in the ratings. Ratings were still drastically down when compared to BB1-BB8. Because BB11 managed to outperform BB10 on a regular bases CBS touted this in their press releases noting that BB was the only summer show to increase in the ratings. Chima's expulsion was one of the highest rated episodes with 8.08 million viewers. The first in two seasons to break the 8 million mark.

Thanks for the information Josh, and welcome to the forum  ;D

I didn't know that BB1 premiered with over 20 million viewers  :o. I guess people was just dissapointed with the show, and that was why it went down.

I can't believe that BB10 was the least watched season  :-\, for me that was the best season in US, I absolutely love it, but it has the Olympics against it, so maybe that wasn't a good idea  :-\. I'm pretty surprised with the numbers of BB9, I thought it were worst than that, I remember that they had only 5 milliones viewers each day  :-\

I am pretty sure that BB9 average would be around or under BB10 but CBS neglected to reveal averages between BB9 and BB10. When they did have comparisons they had them between BB8 & BB10. After the first few weeks BB9 never was able to break the 6.5 million mark and most of the shows were in the 5 millions. The live eviction shows performed the worst out of all three (I think they had the show up against Idol.)  I honestly think that BB10 would have had more viewers if it wasn't for BB9.

Also BB9 was the first season to ever get under a 2.0 rating in the 18-49 and even the 18-34 demo (which it does well.) When BB10 was up against the Olympics all the shows managed to get at least a 2.0 in both the adults 18-49 and adults 18-34 demo. A lot of ratings websites were egar to mention that BB10 was one of the best seasons while BB9 was an utter flop.

I think that the launch for BB12 might be in the levels of BB7-BB9 in terms of ratings next year, thanks to BB10 and BB11. Chima's antics really helped BB11 especially her expulsion. BB11 had struggled the first few weeks because of an editing backlash where CBS didn't air Braden's comments in a censored form and it seemed that CBS were trying to make it seem as he didn't say it.

Yesterday's finale in Brazil had 40 points and 61% share, the most watched episode from this season. At that time the other TV Station had 9 and 4 points, so Big Brother cuadruplicate the other TV shows yesterday

This series average was 30.7 points, so it was the least watched season in Brazil

Well, BB12 according to Wikipedia averaged 7.31 million viewers compared to the 6.68 million that averaged BB11. Anyways, BB12 though the most predictable one ever, it was a great season, all thanks to Brenchel and The Brigade.

In Spain, the most watched season has been GH1, of course, it was the first series and the one most people remember. That series averaged and outsanding 7.8 million viewers. GH8 was the least watched series so far averaging 3.46 million, GH9 and GH10 both averaged 3.5 million viewers while GH11 averaged 3.46 million.

The premiere of GH12 obtained a historical low of 3.359 million people watching but it managed to become Sunday's second most watched show on Spain after TVE1's 9pm newscast that obtained 3.7 million.

More detailed BBUSA ratings that I could find. If I can find more I will update the table.

Note: The "Rank" column is only for BB9 since it is the only season to air in the main television season. Summer shows do not receive a rank against other primetime shows as the typical TV season starts in September and ends in May. The summer is considered an off season. Also we have individual night data for BB9 since it aired during the regular TV season and for ranking purposes if one show airs more than one episode per week in a different timeslot like Big Brother or American Idol. Each regular scheduled broadcast is counted as a separate show. They are identified like "Big Brother 9 - Sun" for example.

Also keep in mind with the earlier seasons when BB aired on Saturday the viewership was drastically lower on Saturday nights versus other nights due to Saturdays being the least viewed night of the week. This is especially true for BB6 because the other two episodes had higher ratings and its Saturday airing brought down its average. For BB2000 and BB9 there were no helping those awful seasons.

God BB9 just sucked so badly. I remember questioning if CBS wouldn't just cancel BB after that disaster.

Here is the updated table with all available rating information that can be humanly found relating to BBUSA

Without a doubt Big Brother 3 can be seen as the best performing season in the history of the show. While there are no average season number available the season remained up over BB2 on most accounts and it was due to the success of this season CBS entered into the first and only multi-season pickup deal for the franchise ensuring the program would run until 2006.

Post All-Stars, Big Brother 12 is the best performing it managed to restore ratings levels back to what it was in 2005/2006. Fans often regard Big Brother 10 as their favorite season from this era and could possibly be the season that saved the program after Big Brother 9 proved a disaster.

Worst performing season could be either Big Brother 2000 or Big Brother 9. Both had high ratings at the start but lost a substantial amount of viewers by the finale. Now based on the viewership numbers here it is clear that Big Brother 2000 was the worse performing season but a key fact to remember is Big Brother 2000 still held a respectable amount of viewers in the 18-34 demographic while Big Brother 9 was way down in the same demo. Young viewers is a key renewal point for Big Brother even though most of CBS' shows attract the 25-54 demographic.

Now in theory Big Brother 13 should feature a casting twist with at least two Housemates knowing of each other prior to entering the House. I am hoping that this isn't the case as the new era of "complete stranger" seasons (BB10-BB12) have consistently performed well versus the relationship era (BB4-BB9).

Here are the ratings in a line graph:
