Title: Weather in your country (Boring Question)
Post by: BBUKFan on June 06, 2013, 09:26:09 PM
Currently in Scotland we are enjoying some hot weather (today we've had highs of 21oc), we rarely get hot weather at all, we usually have rain or cold, cloudy weather, so we're really enjoying being able to sit in our back yards and chill in the sun.

How is the weather where you are, do you enjoy having the weather you do or would you prefer a different climate.

In Spain we usually have hot weather in summer and cold weather in winter (LOL), but we're having really cloudy and rainy months, at least in the North. Although most of people in my school say they are very hot, I'm having my coldest month in 17 years, I even sleep covering my head with the blanket lol.

Good question. Well, yesterday when I woke up to go to school, it had a very intense mist on my street and on my way to school. Something I hadn't seen since my childhood. :o Here now are doing a little cold weather (I love it! ;D). Hardly the sun is opening.

Yes, we also have cold weather in Rio de Janeiro. ;D

In Maine, just four hours from Quebec, Canada, it's been warm all week, but it would likely rain tonight.

I'll be able to discuss this topic and do a comparison, as Next week, I'm going to have a whole new country to live in! ) :) :) :) :)

In Finland there's been a heatwave for a week now. Or just a part of the country. The part, where I live in. For the rest of the country it's pretty much normal...chilly and rainy. At least that's what some of my friends living a bit norther have told me.

None of the forecasts have been right about the weather in this region. Yesterday was much warmer, than it was supposed to be. This town peaked at 26 degrees celsius.

BTW...the all-time record here is 37 degrees celsius. Recorded a couple of years ago. And here even I was thinking, that this country is cold. :P

Such an amazing difference there, where you are excited for some cold weather, whereas I would long to come to Brazil for the heat and to get a nice natural tan ;D

Our weather is pretty unpredictable, we can get heavy rain one minute and within a few hours you wouldn't think that it rained at all.

Although the snow in the winter can get bad as people have difficulty getting to work, school, college etc.

i didn't answer the other question. I do like the weather here. Generally. Don't really like the slush, that comes usually when the winter is too damn warm. I prefer pure and dry snow. I would also prefer the temperatures not to drop below -10 celsius...but I guess it's a bit too much to ask in this part of the world.

Let's change the country? :P Haha. I love cold and dislike heat. I love this time of year, because it always gets cold.

In southern of Brazil always snows in winter. I think Gabriel could talk better about it, because he lives in this part of the country.

@Rod, I'm sure it would come as a shock to both of us, I'd be able to adjust to the heat though, although I'm really unsure you've experienced a British WINTER. It's not the snow, it's the black ice and the bitter cold that's the problem, going out without gloves from December through to March is a death wish LOL.

Brits don't have nothing on us Finns, regarding winters. And we really don't have nothing on for example Siberia or Alaska. The coldest I ever experienced was, when I lived in northern Finland. The lowest then was -45 celsius. Kinda chilly.  ;)

I always wonder how the Finnish BB Housemates cope.

It's survivable. Certainly not enjoyable. In southern Finland the record low is somewhere around -35 celsius. And the coldest during a BB-series was about -20.

I guess we just accommodate to the weather as much as we can. Half of the population don't really like the winters here. I'm one of that half. Not really complaining though.

So, until next Wednesday that will be cold, then that will be hot, then cold, then hot, etc.

Sounds a bit like last years 2012 British Summer,  we had a rainy, damp summer last year, the year before a hot summer.

Not sure how this year will go.

Apparently it's going to get quite hot soon which will be good as the sunbeds cost a fortune to keep topping up!

Today it's warm but cloudy, tbh I hate all forms of weather apart from sunny, hot days with little clouds.

I didn't enjoy my sunbed today because I forgot my goggles, I had to clench my eyes shut the whole time!

I love wearing jackets, I don't go out very often, I like to hear the rain while I'm sleeping, I like to be surrounded of blankets all the day. I detest being sweaty all the day because of being Summer and I can't sleep well.

We are in the middle of a 3 day heatwave.

Today was 92F, but i was okay because I was on my friend's bus for most of the day (he's a bus driver) and the city buses have A/C.
I got home around 11pm and it went down to 76F which is way more tolerable.

Tomorrow will be 95F, lets see how this goes....

I love the heat tho :)

LOL, I'm the opposite of you: I can sleep more well in Summer than in Winter. I also like Summer, because I also love being inside the water, and in Summer we want fresh, so I go for the entire day to the village's swimming pool. (Today was one of that days. ;D)

@Jack, did you want to come to Portugal with 40ºC?I'm not sure I could handle that!

Apparently it is 22oC here but it feels MUCH hotter. I'm going out to the garden soon, it saves me money having to go to a tanning salon lol

Believe, that is so much hot. People don't go out, and are always at home! (http://forum.worldofbigbrother.com/Smileys/classic/undecided.gif) That's really boring here. I only go out to go to the swimming pool! (That is more fresh in the pool! ;D ;D ;D ;D)
I don't think I have a skin dark, but I don't have white skin, too. I'm in the middle. :P

Sun and tanning beds are VERY expensive...
If I had to take a hunch, it'd be $2,000 (in US dollars) to purchase a tanning bed, then you have to include the increased cost in electricity,

Now if you went to a tanning center, then idk how much they are. There are loads of these places in the NYC area.

I personally don't need tanning, I'm a Mediterranean/brown color my whole life and I never get sun burnt either after being in the sun for hours. Best of both worlds :)

The weather on the East Coast here is only like that in the summer months.. (June-August) but thankfully we aren't in school at this time.

Now the West Coast, like Los Angeles, the weather is consistently like this for at least 8-9 months... the remaining three months have temperatures around 75oF (They don't get snow in the winter or cold)

66F is NOTHING, its normally very nice and not too hot here with that temp. There is probably a lot of humidity, because that isn't a very high temp.

I had 41 total mosquito bites a few weeks ago (Yes I counted).

I sleep through hurricanes, but not thunder and rain.

I love being outside in the rain and whenever it rains here in the summer, it is at the evening or night and I'm out with my friends when it happens. They all hate the rain, it is so funny :P

Probably because you're by a body of water, like a beach. The closest beach to me would be maybe Wildwoods, NJ or New York City. Also, pollution tends to make everything seem warmer. Not to mention, I'm surrounding by a mess of hills & Pittsburgh is very woodsy outside of Downtown.

It's 67 today. This is for sure the coolest summer I've ever had.

Though, at one point I lived in the state of Delaware for seven years. It was 90 degrees all year around with about four weeks in the middle of 100 degree weather. It was always awful. :(

Right now it's 8 degrees celsius (about 46 fahrenheit) here. We've already had subzero temps here in the south. In Celsius-scale. And really rainy. In the north it's already snowing. Winter is coming.

And the weather we've had in the south here have been warmer than usually this time of the year. In the last two weeks or so. I also have to add, that it's 5 AM here now. Usually at this hour at this time of the year is much chillier.

Today in Pittsburgh, it was snowing. This is the first snowfall in April that I've seen since 1997. That one was about sixty inches.

This is the first time I've gotten a sunburn and seen snow in the same month.

I've always wondered if Survivor could ever film there.
mainly french channel like TF1 and M6 also local channels but for foreign channels it depend of your TV network (your "fournisseur") but i can't have channel 5 or CBS  :'( for example
so i see french shows

there was a big electric storm during the early morning in Catalonia, fire-fighters received 50 alerts in 18 difference zones due to fire originated by it, it was chaos over here, I saw a lot of people going to church after it all ended (my mom and I stayed at home lol). One of the thunderbolts (there were a lot and were big and loud, I had a headache all morning) hit our TV antenna so I've got no TV since it's arranged again. My mom though all the electro-domestics would be dead, thankfully there was no more damages in my house and if they were we have an insurance. I hope we don't have another one.

We are now on the 31st consecutive day with temperatures going over +25 celsius (77 F). Record high was yesterday about 50 km from here. 32,9 celsius (about 91 F). That's the record high for this summer...all time record is from 2010, a bit over 37 (99 F).

There was a thunder here last thursday, but it didn't last for long where I live. In other parts of the country there's been proper thunder-storms, with a lot of trees falling. And some parts of this country also lost power in last weeks storms.

All in all, we are now 1 day away of having the 2nd warmest summer all-time since 1959. And the warmest had 35 consecutive days with temperatures 25 C or over. I think we're going to break that record too. Seems like it will be at least a week the same weather as it is now. Right now it's 26 C and a blue sky.

Not big ones, but we like to feel special and hard done by too, so what if there's earthquakes in Japan and drought in India, we've got some heavy winds and a little rain, LET'S MAKE A BIG DEAL OUT OF IT!

This so-called hurricane was a non hurricane, it was 80mph winds and some rain, at worst some bins were blown over.

Someone who I met recently, the same person who's friends with a co-worker of McCrae, said from where he's from, Minneapolis, Summers are usually 80oF everyday and not much rain, which means if I ever get the chance to move there, I will in a heart beat.

It has all of the other qualities I look for in a place to settle.
- Liberal
- Cold Weather & not overwhelmingly hot weather.
- Not overloaded with rednecks and probably not super ghetto either.
- Not known for crime, specifically in its counterpart, St. Paul.

Of course, I have to go there to see what it is really like.

I definitely don't, my mum is English haha.

Most normal and intelligent people don't, only stupid people do. I would say a higher proportion of Scottish people have a chip on their shoulder about the English rather than vice versa. A lot of (stupid) Scottish people see themselves as working class heroes and all English people as the bourgeoise, evil snobs, when in reality our system is the exact same. Scotland has upper, middle and working class people in the country too.

Right now it's -24 degrees Celsius (-11F) and clear sky. Where I live. I'ts about -37 Celsius (-34F) in the north. Cold as hell, but still just a normal winter here.

How can you survive that? How many layers do you have to wear? :o

It's survivable. I wear 3 layers. Years ago I lived in the north. The coldest there then was -43 degrees celsius. Now that was cold.

Staying steadily around -8 to -10 degrees celsius now. Not clear sky anymore. It's been slowly snowing about 2 days straight now. I think maybe about 5-10 cm in that period. Not that bad. I'm sure at some point we'll have a blizzard here, but nothing yet in the forecasts.

Nice. We're back to the -20 and below in Celsius. Still...just a normal winter here.

It's February 1st and I'm walking around in just a t-shirt & shorts, not even a hoodie. I don't even have any knickers on either - I'm more comfortable living without knickers.

Same as you, it's the toughest summer to fall asleep for me lol. The worst part is I live in a boring town, there's not much to do these days, thankfully I'm going to Marrakesh very soon, the heat yeah but more entertaining than here for sure.

(and I officially announce I'm joining Gabriel's camp. I'm now in the Winter camp. At least you can warm yourself inside even with -10°C outside, when you can't refresh yourself inside with +30°C outside)

Thankfully last days of my vacation had some wind to it so I was actually pretty good on the beach enjoying my color change (kinda kkkk).

I totally get you since I've had probably the worst nights of my life in July 2016, but I still love summer cause you have so much to do and there's no school. However I also miss winter when is so easy to fall asleep <3333

There's been a heatwave here. And here it means about 25 celsius and above for a few weeks. In daytime. Nights have been under 20. Some rain here and there. Just a very nice Finnish summer.

It's now after midnight here. And the temperature is +20 celsius. Not even raining. It was before, and even with the rain it was around 23 celsius where I live.

Too much heat since yesterday, and right now it's doing 31°C (5:45pm). Tomorrow will be the same.
I can't wait to be in winter, with the cold, the wind, the rain so I just can do whatever I want without suffering, and especially find sleep quicker. :)

Totally the oposite lol. Last night rained really hard and it's colder.
I always observe that when school is coming the weather just gets cold like instantly, WHY?

Almost 70 the last two days here, now it is raining.

This year and 2015 were the warmest Fall's ever. After all, I was in shorts until November this year.

But I notice the same, I still didn't use my coat when in other years I would have since a long time already.
