Big Brother 2 Canada
« on: August 02, 2013, 03:50:21 PM »
Big Brother Canada has begun casting for its second season, with hopeful houseguests able to apply online or at open audition venues.

From today, Canadian citizens who are aged 19 years or over by February 1st can fill out an application form at the show’s official casting website – and either upload a video, or choose an audition date to attend.

The open calls will take place later this year at the following venues:

Vancouver, British Columbia – September 8 at Metropolis at Metrotown
Edmonton, Alberta – September 14 at West Edmonton Mall
Halifax, Nova Scotia – September 20 at Halifax Shopping Centre
St. John’s, Newfoundland – September 21 at Sheraton Hotel Newfoundland
Montreal, Quebec – September 27 at Le Centre Montreal Sheraton
Toronto, Ontario – October 19 at John Bassett Theatre
“With an astounding 10,000 Canadians having auditioned for season one, we know there is a huge desire from fans across the country to participate in this legendary series,” said Barbara Williams, senior VP of content for Shaw Media, parent company of the show’s broadcaster Slice.

“Season one of Big Brother Canada was a blockbuster with an engaging, dynamic and entertaining cast. We look forward to discovering a new crop of Canadian houseguests that will blow people away with more scheming, more drama, more romance and more surprises than ever before,” added executive producer John Brunton.

Slice has also debuted an advert for the casting calls, starring former houseguest Gary Levy, which you can see here:

Looks unlikely but really hope they keep the season 1 cast out of season 2 - at most they should feature in "where are they now?" videos but involving them in the promos or as guest hosts or even houseguests would just be annoying.

I don't think they will re-cast the people after one season only. Canadian producers seem to listen more to fans and this is a very unpopular twist these days.
I am really looking forward to the next season - the first one was really great, I've enjoyed it a lot but there is room for improvement. Nevertheless my expactations were fullfilled with this.

I LOVED first season even though I was not able to watch every single episode since Youtube deleted many videos due to copyright infringement. However, I watched all the pre-jury episodes, some episodes of the jury phase and the finale. I'm looking forward to watch season 2. The advert is hilarious and Gary is probably my favorite Canadian houseguest so far.
But there are some things I don't understand about season 2...
-Why are they gonna try to cast people from Quebec if last season all the houseguests were from English-speaking Canada? I like the idea, I just don't understand why they've changed their mind.
-Why do they want houseguests to be at least 19 years old? Aren't 18-year-olds considered adults in Canada?

If I remember correctly, they did casting in Quebec last year - it just so happened that they didn't pick anyone from there.

And welcome to the forum! :)

Even many of the houseguests expected someone/some people in the house to be from Quebec.

The Big Brother Canada house is to move to a new location for its second season due to unforeseen circumstances, according to reports.

Its first run was based in a studio in Mississauga, Ontario, with the house including state-of-the-art features such as special lighting to simulate times of day in the indoor backyard.

However, it has now emerged that the set will be rebuilt in a new location for 2014, after senior producer Erin Brock revealed a new floorplan in a photo posted on social networking app Instagram.

plus Big Brother Canada’s second season will launch with a ‘major’ twist that has never been done before in any other country, it’s claimed.

Executive producer John Brunton revealed the news in an interview with CarterMatt.com, claiming that the scheme would ‘shock’ contestants with a ‘huge involvement’ from the Canadian public.

“We have a major theme that we are working on this year,” he stated.

“I can’t reveal it to you, but it’s something that I don’t think that anyone has ever seen on a ‘Big Brother’ show in the United States or Canada. It’s a major, major thing that we’re pulling off.

“We’re going to do something at the beginning that again, nobody’s ever seen on any ‘Big Brother’ anywhere.”

He added: “It will have a huge involvement with Canadians all across the country, and it’s going to be shocking to the houseguests. They’re going to be freaked out.

“I’m telling you: It’s going to be a freakin’ barnburner. People are going to be on the edge of their seats.”

Brunton – who has also executive produced shows such as Canada’s Got Talent and Canadian Idol – was speaking at auditions for the new season, which closed last week.

It was recently reported that the Big Brother Canada house will be moved to a new location ahead of its second run, which is expected to begin in February.

I'm excited about this twist never being done before. It's great that Canada is trying to outdo the other countries.  ;D ;D ;D

I hope they pull the twist off. Canada's my only hope for ever watching BB again.

I also like Canada is looking for himself instead of being just a "BB US 2.0.". I hope the twist does not have nothing to do with returning players from the first season though.

^ Returning players would defeat the purpose of "doing something never done" as BBUS has already done that three times. If it is returning players, I'm done, I will NOT give it a try.

I'm always suspicious of those "never been done before" as the previous twist announced like that all were already done multiple times..

I can only conceive Suzette returning for a second chance and choosing one nominee every week

most of the housemates were meh induvidually tbh. It was a great cast because but there wasn't any real stand out so I don't want any of them to return.

Like the promos of BB10 Australia "The Biggest Twist Ever" and was a simple and old Rich/Poor areas Twist.

This "never been done" before better be legit. Plus, the "have nots" is the BBuS/BBCAN edition of Rich/Poor.

I can't even think of what BB hasn't done. Redemption Garage, maybe? Where Canada votes which eviction housemate they want to keep in each week and the one left before jury returns?

It was confirmed a couple of months before Christmas that they'd had to relocate due to reasons beyond their control.
