Big Brother 5 Africa
« on: June 23, 2010, 11:42:18 AM »
Big Brother 5 Africa will start on Sunday 18th July 2010. It will run for 91 days.

As there has been no auditions/casting, there are strong rumours that this will be an All Star edition with housemates from the previous 4 editions taking part.

I read the article, and it said it will search for people themselves who have auditioned before but who simply didnt make the final cut. So it could be that they'll contact those who auditioned previously, not precisely past housemates.

An All Stars seems too soon, maybe for next yr or 2.

Good news that BBAfrica is back.

so an All Star season is basically confirmed?
I hopen they will also have some contestants from the first two seasons with have been south africa only. I get chills when I am thinking of it - I was a no. 1 bb fan back then and a lot of the HMs were really fabolous! god I miss these old days when everything was new about bb in every country and they did not need to manipulate and edit that much to make the show existing

So the All-Stars is finally confirmed, and I don't lie the idea  :-\

I'm not a big fan of the All-Stars seasons, and 91 days is too much for an All-Stars

I kind of agree, I mean on paper the whole idea of an All-Stars season sounds great, but from what I've season it doesn't really turn out so well. I know from reading some articles that the one in Spain was considered kind of boring. I remember when we had one here in the US it was just awful.

The Spanish "All-Stars" was one of the most amusing season of a reality show in Spain.

The housemates, who had experience in TV and GH, were competing all the day. The season was very controversial, with great housemates...

I thought it was okay, but with the US being more game focused everyone was solely focused on game. Although I loved how bitter some of the Housemates were when they were reunited with the people responsible for their eviction. If the USA does another All-Stars season they should use the Brazilian format that way it changes the game up. Or the new Canadian format just something to change the core format.

But 91 days is too long even the 70 days for BB7 US was too long. Lets hope they have good housemates coming back.

A lot of the Big Brother U.S. alum hang out with each other and have their own Hollywood social groups, even meshing with Housemates from other seasons, so yes, they'd need to do something interesting so we're not watching them do the same stuff the former housemates are doing right now after have been off the show.

I think its very similiar to those of the german BBs. most of them are coming from the latter, unsuccessful seasons though and are always appearing on these parties some (surprisingly old) BB fands organize. sometimes you ask yourself if they don't have a live besides that  ;D
gosh - I hope we will never have an allstar bb as I am sure it would only consist of these people. the four returning HMs from our last season have been enough already (I hated ALL of them) and I think none of the HMs from earlier season that MADE BB would ever bother to consider to return as they don't want to be associated with such a trash show for pornstars what it has become over the years.

The adverts that aired confirmed there will be 14 housemates and the series will last for 91 days.

A newspaper in Africa has "confirmed" that Sammy (BB1) will enter the house for Ghana.

The managing director of the channel M-Net Africa, Biola Alabi, promises the series will be "featuring some of the most unforgettable, outspoken, and entertaining housemates of previous editions. All the housemates, both those included in the new show and those who are not on this series, are the true stars of the Big Brother Africa story and we want to celebrate them in all their glory. What better way than to bring back some of the fans' favourite characters for a second chance at the prize?"

Rumours are that Uti Nwachukwu (BB3 - Nigeria), Hannington Kuteesa (BB4 - Uganda), Meryl Shikwambane (BB2 - Namibia), Yacob Yehdego (BB4 - Ethiopia), Kaone Ramontshonyana (BB4 - Botswana), and Lerato Sengadi (BB2  - South Africa) will be in the house from Sunday.

Yacob is the most obvious housemate to enter, as it is assumed there will be one housemate from each country, and Ethiopia has had only Yacob in the show, as they only began to compete in the fourth series of the show.

The casting is pretty good, there are many interesting contestants but then we have a Jen who was the first and the only person in Africa who decided to quit and was one of the most boring housemate ever  ???

So far, Mwisho is my favourite, I love him in the first season, one of the best HM in Africa  ;D

According to Wikipedia, "each housemate entered the house with a secret that is worth $1,000. Should a housemate make it to their eviction without their secret being discovered they will earn the $1,000. However, should a housemate's secret be discovered before their eviction, the housemate who discovered their secret will acquire the $1,000 prize that came with it and the housemate who's secret it was will lose said $1,000." I couldn't find any information about this on the site.

There is a new about this on the official website: http://bigbrotherafrica.dstv.com/News/1727/Housemates-Secrets-Shhhh--.html

As always, there are some interesting secrets, like Jen's secrets, and then we have Tatiana's secret: "I can sing but nobody knows it"  >:(

The housemates were surprised today with the first nominations session,althought I'm pretty sure it'll be fake.

Jen:
Sheila because she is "just too much" and Code because he was a "random selection"
Sheila: Lerato because she has no one else to Nominate and Sammi because in her opinion, Sammi will bounce back!
Uti: Yacob because they "don't have much to say to each other" and Paloma because he sees her as a threat.
Tatiana: Yacob because she feels there is something fishy about him and he looks like he is hiding something and Lerato because from her experience with Lerato in the past, she knows she is competition.
Yacob: Code because he did not get to talk to him since they walked into the house and Lerato because she comes across as strong and opinionated and doesn't know her that well.
Munya: Paloma because she is "hard to trust" and Sammi for no reason
Paloma: Sheila for "no reason" and Sammi stating that he was the first name to pop up in her head
Hannington: Paloma and Lerato although he didn't have any reasons for nominating them
Meryl: Sammi because of his age and the fact that she hasn't established a connection with him and Jen because she finds her reserved.
Lerato: Jen because she is reserved and quite personality proved to be her undoing and Mwisho because someone else had to be nominated
Kaone: Lerato because he felt he did not get along very well with her and Meryl because she is Lerato's friend.
Code: Yacob stating lack of connection as his reason and Mwisho described him as a "strong" candidate
Mwisho: he said he don't know anybody's name, and although he was given an opportunity to describe them, he denied to nominate, so was automatically nominated
Sammi: he didn't remember any name, but he decided to describe them. The first person was a Mozambican girl with a tattoo (Jen) because he hasn’t gotten to know her and something ton (Hannington) because he hadn’t bonded with the Ugandan.

Mwisho = 2 (Automatic)
Lerato = 5
Sammi = 4
Paloma = 3
Yacob = 3
Jen = 3
Sheila = 2
Code = 2
Meryl = 1
Hannington = 1

So Lerato and Mwisho are up for eviction. But Im not sure if they are real or fake.

If they are real, Mwisho should go. I loved him during season 1, but I can't tolerate someone who go into a GAME and denied to vote  >:(

I was right, and the noms were fake, and everyone is up for eviction this week

I don't know who I want to go, it's too soon to decide. Maybe Yacob, who I think is playing the game really bad, but he was only 1 day in the house, he can change in during the week

This is indeed a great cast! However there are a few I feel that are trying too hard this time around or just don't fit in. Jen is very reserved (she walked off Big Brother : Revolution) and the rest of the characters in the house seem to overpower her. Kaone is such an irritant! He's trying so hard to flirt with Tatiana - maybe its his strategy or he's just a horny bugger... The way he acts also just grates on me. :( Paloma, last night, gave out Rosaries to housemates and preached to them about morals..........  BLAH BLAH! Same as she did in season 4! :@ BORING! So I think, Paloma, Kaone and Jen should be the first ones OUT ASAP!  :o

It's good to have someone from there to tell us what is really happening  ;D

I read about Kaone, and I didn't like him last season, and I think I'll hate him again. I agree with you about him, and I think it's just a game, but it won't work for him. I read some guys talk about Jemma (Jeremy&Emma) last season, and they think that if they have a showmance, it'll be better for them. I don't think so

About Jen, I agree with you that she is the most reserved housemate from the house, but I like her this time, sometimes is good to have someone like her in a house where everyone want to be the center of attention, and she is a little more open than last season, but I think she will be the first out, because I don't think she has many fans to save her  :-\
