Big Brother 5 Sweden
« on: November 08, 2010, 04:45:33 PM »
News are circulating, that BB will return to Sweden in 2011. Malin Persson, a spokesperson for the TV4 group, has confirmed they've bought the rights. But it's still unclear, which of the channels they will air it.

Does anyone know why Big Brother Sweden was cancelled in the first place? Its not like it ever did particularly poorly in Sweden. I mean I'm pretty sure that it was a flop in Norway, but I've never understood why it didn't continue in Sweden after 2006.

sometimes it just happens that channels see new trends in new shows and try to invest more in that (Idol was starting at the time when BB got axed in Sweden) rather than reviving some regular show each new year.

actually it won't be "another country" but a returning one. BB started in Sweden in 2000 already  :P

They are now taking in applications until the 20th of December. BB will be aired on a newly formed channel TV11 (currently TV400, change in January 19th). I'm guessing the initial selection will be based on the applications. It doesn't say anywhere, that there would be open auditions.

Some new information have been released. According to the information at the moment, 15-20 HMs will enter the house and the duration is 100 days. Also they're seeking people who can shock/provoke, create and stop conflicts, have an odd background and/or interesting phobias. Earlier participation in similar experiences is a disadvantage and anyone with a tribal tattoo will be disqualified (they don't say why).

LOL at this rule with the tribal tatoo like WTF? I guess in Germany most HMs would have not made it into the house then  ;D

Yeah...the Swedes are just so strange.  :P  Well, not really any more than we are...but that rule with the tattoos is really weird.

Anyway...here's the link to the first trailer and a preview of the house:

My Swedish is not that good, but a rough translation of that trailer:

Are you looking for an exclusive place to stay, with a substantial prize to go with it? Then you've come to the right place. We offer you an all-inclusive lofty place worthy of celebrities. Apply now, you're worth it.

That house is from Grande Fratello 10 Italia, with the renovated logo from that season. I think swedish producers took the first video they found  :D

I thought there was something a bit off. Thanks for clearing it up.  :)

And I really didn't know it was from another BB, although I suspected it could be. Just forgot to add this suspicion to my original post.  :-[

BTW...apparently there are open auditions. They started last Saturday in Malmo and will continue tomorrow in Gothenburg. Also, the construction of the house has begun. Although at the moment they only have some framework done.

Seems like part of the applicants are called in for further interviews based on the online applications and the other part from the open auditions.

If you are talking about the link I gave earlier, I don't know. At the moment no-one really know much. Only that the auditions have ended, and they're not taking any more applications either.

Yep...that's the one. I actually translated this to my best abiltiy. My Swedish is a bit rusty, but the voice is saying something like this: "Are you looking for an exclusive place to stay, with a substantial prize to go with it? Then you've come to the right place. We offer you an all-inclusive lofty place worthy of celebrities. Apply now, you're worth it."

And also, I can now say that this series starts sometime in February. Or at least that's what one of the biggest newspapers in Sweden is saying on their web-edition. No exact date given yet.
